LCDR STEVEN ROGERS (Ret)

LCDR Steven Rogers (USN, ret.) currently serves as AUSN’s Executive Director. He was previously the Operations Manager at AUSN. He has spent 30 years in service to the United States across two branches of the military. In 1986, Rogers enlisted in the United States Navy Reserves and served with the Office of Naval Intelligence as the Deputy Director Intelligence Support Group, Homeland Security in 2021 and Deputy Chief of Staff, (N2) Intelligence assigned as the U.S. Northern Command’s Senior Military Intelligence Officer to the FBI National Joint Terrorism Task Force, Washington, D.C., in 2002. He retired from the Navy in 2010. He began his military career in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974, before being honorably discharged.

In 1974, Rogers became a police officer in East Orange, New Jersey, before joining the Nutley, New Jersey, police force two years later. He retired in 2011 as Detective Lieutenant, Commander of the Nutley Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division. In 1991, Rogers was appointed by the New Jersey Attorney General to instruct Community Policing methodologies at the Israeli National Police Academy in Beit Shemesh, Israel.

In 2008, Rogers was elected to the Nutley School District Board of Education, and in 2012, he was elected and served two terms on the Nutley Board of Commissioners (City Council). During his tenure as a commissioner, he established the first municipal government’s Military and Veterans Affairs Bureau in New Jersey, which has garnered statewide acclaim. He was a candidate for NJ Governor in 2017.

Rogers holds a degree in Criminal Justice Administration from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. He also completed virtual courses of study in military strategy at the United States Naval War College in Rhode Island and courses on Global Terrorism at the United Nations in New York City.

Rogers is an author and news contributor for several multimedia television and radio networks. He is married with three grown children.
