Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) allows you to contribute now, receive an immediate tax benefit, and recommend grants to support ALIVE! over time. Many sponsors (such as Fidelity, Schwab, or Vanguard) allow recurring grants, making it easy to become a Sustaining Supporter.

Gifts of Stock or Securities

Donating appreciated stock or mutual funds is a smart, tax-efficient way to make a lasting impact. You may avoid capital gains taxes and be eligible for a charitable deduction based on the full market value of your gift.

Note: In accordance with our policy, all donated shares are sold upon receipt so that the value can be immediately invested into ALIVE!’s programs.

Workplace & Employer Giving

Many workplaces offer payroll deductions, matching gift programs, or employee giving campaigns through platforms like Benevity, YourCause, or United Way.

Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP)

Virginia residents and businesses who donate to ALIVE! through the NAP may be eligible for state tax credits worth up to 65% of their donation. This program helps increase support for critical services like food assistance and eviction prevention.

To qualify for NAP credits:

  • Minimum gift: $500 (individual) or $616 (business)
  • Credits are limited and available on a first-come basis
  • You must submit a short one-page form at the time of your gift
